Modular vs Integrated vs Individual ATPL | E-Flight Academy
If you're training to become an airline pilot, the route matters almost as much as the destination. Broadly speaking, there are three models: modular, integrated and individual. E-Flight Academy trains pilots through the modular route — in an individual, tailor-made form. We intentionally do not offer integrated (full-time) training. Here's how the three ATPL training models compare.
The three ATPL training models
1. Modular (E-Flight)
You train in separate building blocks — PPL, building hours, instrument rating, CPL, and ATPL theory. You pay per phase and earn real licences along the way. If you stop partway through, you keep what you've already achieved. This is the foundation of how we train.
2. Integrated (full-time) — not at E-Flight
One continuous full-time programme from zero to frozen ATPL. Fast if you can commit fully, but rigid and expensive upfront — and if you stop partway through, you often won't have an independent licence yet. We do not offer this model.
3. Individual (the E-Flight approach)
Our individual approach is modular, but built entirely around you: a personal plan, a fixed lesson day, and continuous progress — without a waiting list and without a standard package. You get the flexibility and certainty of modular training, with the structure and pace of a guided programme.
Side by side
- Licences along the way — Modular/individual: yes, after each phase. Integrated: often only at the end.
- Stopping along the way — Modular/individual: you keep the licence you've earned. Integrated: less certainty.
- Flexibility — Modular/individual: high. Integrated: low.
- Costs — Modular/individual: transparent and phased. Integrated: high upfront.
- Result — All routes lead to the same licence and the same airline-ready competencies.
Why simulator preparation is decisive
Whichever model you choose, airline readiness is built in the simulator. Good simulator training lets you practise approaches, holds, and failure scenarios as often as needed — safely and independent of the weather. At E-Flight Academy, advanced simulator work is central to the instrument rating and the ATPL route, so you arrive truly prepared for your type rating.
