Make your Single Engine Piston/Power Class Rating current again at E-Flight Academy.
Who is it for?
Do you have a LAPL or higher? Or are you a commercial pilot but your SEP rating is no longer current? Then do the Single Engine Piston Renewal training with us. You'll do the training on our Pipistrel Explorer piston engine, the Bristell B23 or the fully electric Pipistrel Velis.
Please note! It's difficult to say how many lessons are needed to bring the level up to standard for the exam flight. The numbers mentioned are the minimum required. The prices stated are only for the flight portion. Theory lessons are invoiced separately. It's best to first contact us to assess what this training would look like in your situation; then we can make a customized quote for you.
Practical
- At least 2 flight lessons of 1 hour on the Pipistrel Explorer or the Bristell B23, or 3 flight lessons of 45 minutes on the Pipistrel Velis.
- Landings charged separately
- 1 hour aircraft rental (1 flight Virus or possibly 2 flights Velis) for the exam flight (if longer is needed, this is charged separately)
- Need more lessons? Then you pay per extra lesson charged separately.
Theory
During the practical training, theory is also taught. Count on 8 hours of theory with the instructor and 8 hours of home study. During the exam, theoretical knowledge is tested orally by the examiner.
Good to know
- A single engine class rating can be obtained on an electric model or fuel model. If you want to be able to fly both variants, we recommend first getting a SEP class rating on the fuel model and then doing the E-conversion to our electric model. No exam is required for the E-conversion. If you choose to get the SEP class rating on an electric aircraft, you may not simply fly with a fuel model afterwards and vice versa.
- For a SEP class rating you already need a valid LAPL or PPL. A higher license such as CPL or ATPL is of course also possible.
- For LAPL holders, in addition to the 'dual' SEP practical training, 10 solo takeoffs and landings must also be made under instructor supervision. A flight of one and a half hours is planned for this (Virus) or two flights of 45 minutes (Velis). Let us know when this is the case.
- You must have a medical certificate of at least class 2.
- The examiner and exam costs are not included in the price. Landing fees during the exam are also not included. These will be charged after the exam.
- The above practical program is the minimum number of hours. Depending on your situation, more training may be needed.
- If you want to fly both piston and electric after training, you must maintain validity for both. Unfortunately, there is no 'cross-crediting' in the legislation for this.
- If you have ever been in possession of a SEP but have let it expire and want to make it valid again, please contact us for more information. This also applies if you need to make a training flight for 'revalidation'. Often an adapted syllabus is possible.
- You are responsible for requesting the license change from KIWA yourself. We will help you get started.
