E-Flight Academy is based at Teuge International Airport (EHTE), one of the most beautiful and best-known airports in the Netherlands for general aviation. Our home base is E-Deck, the airport's most modern hangar.

Why take an introductory flight at E-Flight Academy at Teuge?

Several flight schools operate at Teuge Airport. What makes E-Flight Academy different?

  • 100% electric flying — We are one of the first flight schools in the world to offer fully electric flying lessons. You fly in the Pipistrel Velis Electro, the first certified electric aircraft.
  • Quiet and comfortable — An electric aircraft is much quieter than a conventional one. No deafening engine noise, just a calm cockpit where you can easily hear your instructor.
  • Sustainable and future-focused — No CO₂ emissions, no fossil fuels. Fly with peace of mind.
  • EASA-certified flight school — E-Flight Academy is a recognised Approved Training Organisation (ATO). Your flight hours count toward official licences.
  • Personal guidance — Small groups, experienced instructors, and training at your own pace.

Introductory flight at Teuge: your first flying experience

Never flown before? A trial lesson (also called an introductory flight or taster flight) is the perfect way to get acquainted with flying. During a trial lesson at E-Flight Academy at Teuge:

  • You get an extensive briefing on the aircraft, the instruments, and the controls
  • You take off from Teuge Airport's runway
  • You fly 35 to 40 minutes over the Veluwe, the IJssel, and the surrounding area
  • You control the aircraft yourself under the guidance of an experienced instructor
  • After landing, you receive an extensive debriefing

In total, you will spend about 1.5 to 2 hours. A trial lesson is also a fantastic gift — surprise someone with an unforgettable flying experience!

Frequently asked questions about flying lessons at Teuge

How old do I have to be for a flying lesson?

For a trial lesson, there is no minimum age — children may also join under supervision. To start a flying course (solo flying), you must be at least 16 years old. You receive your pilot licence at age 17.

Do I need a medical exam?

Not for a trial lesson. For a flying course, you need an aviation medical exam (Class 2 Medical). This is a straightforward examination by a recognised aviation medical examiner.

What happens in bad weather?

Safety comes first. If the weather is not suitable for flying, we will contact you in time to plan a new date. Your flying lesson will be rescheduled free of charge.

Can I bring someone along?

Yes! The Velis Electro is a two-seater, but your friends and family are welcome to attend your briefing and debriefing. They can watch your takeoff and landing from our terrace at E-Deck.

Is a trial lesson a good gift?

Absolutely! Giving a flying lesson as a gift is one of the most special gifts you can give. After your order, you will receive a gift voucher that you can print out or send digitally.

How long does it take to get a pilot licence?

That depends on how often you fly. Most students earn their PPL in 9 to 18 months, with an average of one lesson per week. At E-Flight Academy, you set your own pace.

What is the difference from a sightseeing flight?

On a sightseeing flight, you sit in the aircraft as a passenger. In a flying lesson, you control the aircraft yourself under the guidance of an instructor. You learn the basics of flying and have the control stick in your hands.

Does a trial lesson count toward my pilot licence?

Yes! Because E-Flight Academy is a recognised ATO (Approved Training Organisation), the flight hours from your trial lesson count toward your PPL course. That is not the case at every flight school.

Can I also become a commercial pilot at E-Flight Academy?

Yes! Through our modular ATPL route, you can progress step by step from PPL to CPL and ultimately to your ATPL — the licence you need to fly for an airline.
