Get your Single Engine Piston/Power Class Rating at E-Flight Academy.
Who is this for?
Do you have a LAPL or higher? Or are you a commercial pilot but do not have an SEP rating? Then take our Single Engine Piston / Power training. You can do this training in our Pipistrel Explorer piston engine, or the fully electric Pipistrel Velis. If you are interested in the Bristell B23, contact us for a custom quote.
Practical
- At least three flying lessons of 1 hour in the Pipistrel Explorer, or four flying lessons of 45 minutes in the Pipistrel Velis
- For both types (fuel/electric) an exam is required if you want to fly both types
- At least 10 landings (10 landings are included in the price with us; if more landings are necessary, this will be based on post-calculation)
- 1 hour of aircraft rental (1 flight Explorer or possibly 2 flights Velis) for the exam flight (if more time turns out to be needed, this will be based on post-calculation)
Theory
During the practical training, some theory will also be given. Allow for 8 hours of theory with the instructor and 8 hours of home study. During the exam, theoretical knowledge is assessed orally by the examiner.
Good to know
- A single engine class rating can be obtained on an electric model or a fuel model. If you want to be able to fly both variants, we recommend first obtaining an SEP class rating on the fuel model and then doing the E-conversion to our electric model. No exam is required for the E-conversion. If you choose to obtain the SEP class rating on an electric aircraft, you may not simply fly a fuel model afterward, and vice versa.
- For an SEP class rating, you must already hold a valid LAPL or PPL. A higher license such as CPL or ATPL is of course also acceptable.
- For LAPL holders, in addition to the 'dual' SEP practical training, 10 solo takeoffs and landings must also be completed under the supervision of the instructor. For this, a flight of one and a half hours is scheduled (Virus) or two flights of 45 minutes (Velis). Let us know if this applies to you.
- You must have a medical certificate of at least class 2.
- The examiner and exam fees are not included in the price (allow for 250 euros for an examiner). Landing fees during the exam are also not included. These will be charged after the exam.
- The above practical program is the minimum number of hours. Depending on the person, more training may be required.
- If after the training you are allowed to fly both piston and electric, you must keep both ratings valid. Unfortunately, no 'cross-crediting' applies in the legislation.
- If you have ever held an SEP but let it expire and still want to make it valid again, please contact us for more information. This also applies if you need to make a training flight for 'revalidation'. Often a customized syllabus is possible.
- You are responsible for applying for the license amendment with KIWA yourself. We will help you get started.

Take lessons in the weekend
That is possible, we are open every day. Please note that the airport charges higher landing fees for all flights from early April to the end of September. Therefore, this training is more expensive during this period if you want to take lessons in the weekend.
