From Zero to Hero in 16 months

Zero to hero information

Your ATPL training is not a long marathon but a series of smaller sprints with clear milestones. Each step builds on the previous one and brings you closer to your end goal: First Officer at an airline. The smart thing about our modular approach is that after each license obtained, you can already start flying, build hours and adjust your route.

The route starts with the basics: learning to fly and your first solo. Then you build professional skills and learn to operate in all weather conditions. In parallel you study the theory. After 16 months you have all the licenses and knowledge to apply as First Officer at an airline.

Frequently asked questions

Training & Costs

No, not at the moment. You need to finance your training yourself.

Certainly. We ask for various advance payments for the different lesson packages for this training. These are both flying lesson packages and theory packages. We will agree on a payment schedule with you before the start.

Then you stop the training. You only pay for the lessons taken. It may be that you have already completed a number of exams and thus already have a PPL license or IR rating. The beauty of the modular training is that stopping midway or taking a different path is possible.

15-18 months for the complete training. You start in September 2025 and can, if you pass all exams, apply for your dream job as First Officer after 16 months.

Yes, our EASA certification is recognized worldwide. Airlines actually appreciate our modern approach.

For the class we start in September, we assume that you work full-time on your flight training. In addition to flying, you also have many theory subjects that you will follow. If you are interested in an ATPL alongside your job, please contact us.

Admission & Requirements

No prior education is required to take this training and no specific flight experience either.

There is a legal requirement for the thinking level to obtain an ATPL. Many training programs and also aviation companies require that you have at least a havo/mbo4 diploma (or a foreign equivalent) with mathematics, physics and English in your subject package. We believe that passing the official theory exams and the mandatory language test demonstrate that this level is there.

Keep in mind that you need a valid medical examination (Class 1).

It is also the case that some airlines do have requirements for your prior education. It is good to research this in advance. We can help you with that.

For the Modular ATPL class in September, the minimum age is 17 and the maximum age is 28 years old.

Yes, unfortunately so. We will fly a large part of the training on the Pipistrel Velis at the beginning. That can carry a maximum of 180 kilos in weight. If you weigh more than 95 kilos, it becomes difficult to plan and you might not complete the training within 16 months. Also if you are tall, it is good to first purchase a trial lesson to see if it "fits".

Training & Location

Main location is Teuge Airport (near Apeldoorn and Deventer). In winter you can accumulate extra hours in Alicante, Spain for better flying weather. We also have a location at Lelystad where we learn to fly in the dark and where you will be doing many instrument approaches. We will also soon start electric flying lessons at Lelystad.

Deventer is nearby and affordable (€400-800/month). We can help you with housing through our network.

Career & Future

No, unfortunately we cannot at the moment. We do know that there is a major shortage of pilots, but airlines will also look at quality. We do everything we can to make you a very good pilot, but unfortunately cannot guarantee that you will also be hired by an airline.

You can apply to all airlines. We know our way around many airlines. We will definitely put you in contact with Corendon Dutch Airlines, Jetview, Exxaero and AIS.

With an ATPL you can also work as an instructor, charter pilot, or in business aviation. You have many career opportunities.
