From Zero to Hero in 16 months

Zero to hero information

Your ATPL training is not a long marathon but a series of shorter sprints with clear milestones. Each step builds on the previous one and brings you closer to your final goal: First Officer at an airline. The smart thing about our modular approach is that after each license you earn you can already start flying, build hours and adjust your route.

The route starts with the basics: learning to fly and your first solo. Then you develop professional skills and learn to operate in all weather conditions. In parallel you study the theory. After 16 months you will have all the licenses and knowledge to apply for a First Officer position at an airline.

Frequently Asked Questions

Training & Costs

No, not at this time. You must fund your own education.

Certainly. For this course we require several advance payments for the different lesson packages. These include both flight lesson packages and theory packages. We will agree on a payment schedule with you before the start.

Then you stop the training. You only pay for the lessons you have taken. It may be that you have already taken a number of exams and therefore already hold a PPL licence or IR rating. The beauty of the modular course is that stopping halfway or taking a different path is possible.

15-18 months for the complete training. If you pass all exams, you can apply for your dream job as a First Officer after 16 months.

Yes, our EASA certification is recognized worldwide. Airlines particularly appreciate our modern approach.

For the class starting in September we assume you will work full-time on your flight training. Besides flying, you will also take many theory courses. If you are interested in an ATPL alongside your job, please contact us.

Admission & Requirements

No prior education or specific flight experience is required to follow this training.

There is a legal requirement for the level of reasoning to obtain an ATPL. Many training organizations and airlines also require that you have at least a havo/mbo4 diploma (or a foreign equivalent) with mathematics, physics and English in your course package. We maintain that passing the official theory exams and the mandatory language test demonstrate that this level has been reached.

Please note that you will need a valid medical examination (Class 1).

Some airlines also have requirements regarding your prior education. It is wise to research this in advance. We can help you with that.

For the Modular ATPL class in September the minimum age is 17 and the maximum age is 28 years old.

Yes, unfortunately. At the start we'll do a large part of the training flying the Pipistrel Velis. It can carry a maximum of 180 kilos. If you weigh more than 95 kilos, scheduling becomes difficult and you may not complete the training within 16 months. If you are tall, it's also a good idea to first purchase a trial lesson to see if it "fits".

Training & Location

Main base is Teuge Airport (near Apeldoorn and Deventer). In winter you can book extra hours in Alicante, Spain for better flying weather. We also have a location at Lelystad where we learn to fly at night and where you will do many instrument approaches. We will also soon start electric flight lessons at Lelystad.

Deventer is nearby and affordable (€400-800/month). We can help you with housing through our network.

Career & Future

No, unfortunately we cannot do that at the moment. We do know there is a large shortage of pilots, but airlines will also consider quality. We do everything we can to make you a very good pilot, but unfortunately cannot guarantee that you will be hired by an airline.

You can apply to any airline. We know our way around at many airlines. In any case, we will put you in touch with Corendon Dutch Airlines, Jetview, Exxaero, and AIS.

With an ATPL you can also work as an instructor, charter pilot, or in business aviation. You have many career opportunities.
