Everything about E-Flight Caribbean!

On January 24, we made an announcement that E-Flight will be opening a location on Bonaire. Since then, we've been inundated with lovely responses and questions! To keep everyone up to date, we've put together a list of the most frequently asked questions and answers on this page! 

Frequently asked questions about E-Flight Caribbean

Why is it called E-Flight Caribbean and not E-Flight Bonaire? 
We're starting on Bonaire, but we see endless opportunities and partnerships in innovation and sustainability throughout the Caribbean. The short distances between the islands, the commitment to sustainability, and the willingness of local partners make this area the perfect playground for accelerating the adoption of electric aviation. 

When will you start offering flying lessons on Bonaire? 
We're working hard behind the scenes to get everything ready, but we don't have an exact date yet. Evert-Jan and Merlijn were on Bonaire in March 2026 to lay the groundwork.

How many aircraft will you start with? 
We'll start on Bonaire with one fully electric Pipistrel Velis Electro aircraft. It's exactly the same aircraft we fly at Teuge Airport.

Will you also fly electrically between the islands? 
That's the idea! But first, we'll stay on Bonaire until the next generation of electric aircraft arrives. Working on it... :) 

What does the partnership with Green Aerolease involve? 
To prepare for rapid growth and expansion to the other ABC islands, we've entered into a close partnership with the French company Green Aerolease. Green Aerolease has a fleet of 50 electric aircraft, which it offers to flight schools with sustainability ambitions as Airplanes as a Service (AaaS). This means we can expand very quickly if we need more electric aircraft. 

Who are your instructors on Bonaire? 
One of our Dutch instructors will get things up and running on Bonaire during the initial period. We're currently looking for freelance flight instructors. So if you know someone—or are one yourself—get in touch! :) 

Will you offer the same things on Bonaire as you do in Teuge? 
Yes, our E-Flight products (introductory flights, gift flights, PPL, e-conversion, and rentals) will be exactly the same on Bonaire. 

Will you charge the same prices on Bonaire as in Teuge? 
That's what we're aiming for. As E-Flight, we want to represent one consistent global brand, where everything is as similar as possible wherever we operate. However, we don't yet have enough information about costs to determine whether we can charge the same rates on Bonaire as in Teuge. We expect to have a clear answer by the end of March. 

Can I do part of my flight training in Teuge and part in Bonaire? 
Yes, you can! Our syllabus is exactly the same everywhere, so you can decide at any time to complete part of your training on Bonaire, or vice versa. 

Can you get your pilot's license faster in Bonaire than in the Netherlands? 
The number of flight hours (for your PPL there are 45, for your LAPL 30) are always the same everywhere. However, Bonaire has a much more favourable flying climate, allowing for much more flying time. So if you decide to go full throttle (read: kilowatts ;)) with your lessons, you can make real progress on Bonaire and get your licence very quickly (perhaps in just a few weeks).
