Everything about E-Flight Caribbean!

On January 24, we made an announcement that E-Flight will open a location in Bonaire in May. From that moment on, we were flooded with great reactions and questions! To keep everyone a little up to date, we've listed the most frequently asked questions and answers on this page!

Frequently Asked Questions about E-Flight Caribbean

Why is it called E-Flight Caribbean and not E-Flight Bonaire?
We're starting in Bonaire, but we see endless opportunities and collaborations in the field of innovation and sustainability throughout the Caribbean. The short distances between the islands, the sustainable ambitions, and the willingness of local parties make this area the perfect playground to accelerate electric flying.

When will you start giving flight lessons in Bonaire?
If everything goes according to plan, we'll start on July 1 in Bonaire. Evert-Jan  and Merlijn were in Bonaire from March 7 to 11 to make preparations.

How many airplanes will you start with?
We're starting in Bonaire with one fully electric airplane of the Pipistrel Velis Electro type. It's exactly the same aircraft as the two we have in Teuge and the three we'll soon have there.

Will you also be flying electrically between the islands?
That's the idea! But for now, we'll stay in Bonaire until the next generation of electric airplanes arrives. Working on it... :)

What does the partnership with Green Aerolease involve?
To anticipate rapid growth and expansion to other ABC islands, we've entered into a close partnership with the French Green Aerolease. Green Aerolease has a fleet of 50 electric airplanes that they offer as Airplanes as a Service (AaaS) to flight schools with sustainable ambitions. So we can scale up very quickly if we need more electric airplanes.

Who are your instructors in Bonaire?
One of our Dutch instructors will handle the initial launch in Bonaire. At the moment, we're still looking for a Chief Flight Instructor / Flight Operations Manager (freelance) and Flight Instructors (freelance). So do you know someone like this, or are you one? Let us know soon :)

Will you offer the same in Bonaire as in Teuge?
Yes, our E-Flight products (trial lessons, gift trial lessons, PPL, E-conversion, and rental) are exactly the same in Bonaire.

Will you also charge the same prices in Bonaire as in Teuge?
That's certainly our goal. As E-Flight, we want to represent one clear, consistent brand worldwide, where everything is always as similar as possible. However, at the moment we don't yet have enough information about costs available to determine whether we can charge the same rates in Bonaire as in Teuge. We expect to be able to provide clarity on this by the end of March.

Can I do part of my flight training in Teuge and part in Bonaire?
Yes, you can! Our syllabus is exactly the same everywhere, so you can decide at any time to follow part of your training in Bonaire and vice versa.

Can you get your pilot's license faster in Bonaire than in the Netherlands?
The number of flight hours (for your PPL it's 45, for your LAPL 30) are always the same everywhere. However, Bonaire has a much more favorable flying climate, which means you can fly much more. So if you decide to really step on the gas (read: kilowatts;)) in your lessons, you can really make progress in Bonaire and earn your license very quickly (maybe even within a few weeks).
