Reported incidents
The list below states the most noteworthy and relevant incidents of the past months. If you want to know about incidents that transpired you can contact the SCMM. -
Be Careful When Flying Near Hang Glider or Paraglider Airfields
Please read this article from ILT about the dangers of flying to close to (hang/para-)gliding activities and what you can do to prevent this from happening. -
Keep an eye out for other aircraft because we keep seeing many airproxes!
A relative high number of air proximity incidents have been reported lately. Almost all of them happened at Teuge on downwind or in the approach towards downwind from Sierra. -
Fatal accident with Velis in France
A fatal crash involving a Pipistrel Velis happened at the airport of Poitiers (France) -
Parking brake partially on during touch & go (PH-KWH)
Brake pressure applied during downwind check without visual verification of the parking brake lever position. -
Charger collision with PH-VEX — mind the ground equipment
Velis charger collided with PH-VEX skid-plate during ground movement. Charger inoperative; inspect surroundings carefully. -
Forced go-around — always land with more than 30% SOC
Velis was forced to go around after slower aircraft landed full stop. Plan landings with >30% SOC to handle the unexpected. -
BATTERY CURRENT NOT EQUAL caution in flight (Velis)
Caution observed twice in recent months on two different aircraft. Hangar One inspection found no further action needed. Follow the checklist if it occurs. -
Tailstrike during soft field take-off — manage back pressure
Soft field technique requires extra back pressure but also discipline. Don't over-rotate during the take-off roll. -
Towbar still attached during taxi (PH-BRI)
Aircraft taxied with towbar still on the nosewheel. PH-BRI is the only E-Flight aircraft using a towbar — always disconnect immediately after towing.
