Teuge April 20, 2022 - Edwin van Voorthuizen is the first pilot in the world to obtain his pilot's license in an electric aircraft (the Pipistrel Velis Electro). This happened at International Airport Teuge (near Apeldoorn) at E-Flight Academy

Student from day one
E-Flight Academy started last May as the first in Europe to train pilots in two fully electric aircraft. Edwin was a student from day one. Before he had flown one hour electrically, he had already passed all his theory exams in one go. 8 months ago he flew solo for the first time. And on Wednesday morning April 20 he became the first pilot in the world to obtain his license in an electric aircraft.

Many more e-pilots coming
E-Flight Academy currently has 30 active students and receives 25 registrations per month for a trial lesson. The fleet with electric aircraft in Teuge will be expanded this month with an additional aircraft. This summer new E-Flight locations will be opened in Germany and Bonaire. E-Flight Academy notices that the demand for electric flying is increasing enormously and expects to deliver many more e-pilots in the coming time.
