E-Flight Academy launches first ATPL training with integrated electric flying in the Netherlands

E-Flight Academy lanceert eerste ATPL-opleiding met geïntegreerd elektrisch vliegen in Nederland

E-Flight Academy is the first flight school in the Netherlands to integrate electric flying in ATPL training with 39% less CO2 emissions

E-Flight Academy takes an important step by becoming the first flight school in the Netherlands to integrate electric flying in ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot License) training. With the new full-time ATPL program, over 60% of all training hours are flown completely emission-free - silent and clean. This program demonstrates that commercial pilot training can also be conducted sustainably without compromising quality.

39% less CO2 emissions

The innovative training program combines 86 hours of electric flying, 35 hours of simulator training and 79 hours on conventional aircraft. Compared to regular flight schools that also use fuel-efficient aircraft and simulators, E-Flight Academy achieves an additional savings of 39% CO2 emissions over the complete training.

"This training proves that the future of commercial pilot training is electric," says Evert-Jan Feld, Head of Training at E-Flight Academy. "By deploying electric aircraft especially in the initial phase and when building flight hours, we create a learning environment where students not only become excellent pilots, but also ambassadors of sustainable aviation."

A quiet and clean future for pilot training

The electric aircraft are strategically deployed during the crucial initial phase of training and when building flight experience. This results in a significant reduction of both noise pollution and environmental impact, while preparing students for a future where sustainability and technological progress are central.

After completing the program, students receive an EASA Frozen ATPL license. As it is a modular training, students also obtain certificates for PPL, IR, MEP and CPL exams.

Multi-location training for optimal flexibility

The training takes place at three strategic locations: Teuge, where most electric flights are conducted, Lelystad, where E-Flight Academy recently established a location, and the new Alicante in Spain, where E-Flight Academy plans to start this winter. This multi-location approach offers students optimal flexibility and varied flying conditions.

For the limited conventional flights, E-Flight Academy partners with TreeByTree for CO2 compensation, further minimizing the total environmental impact of the training.

Inspiration for the entire aviation sector

With this training, E-Flight Academy once again underlines its leading position in sustainable aviation training. Since its establishment 4 years ago, E-Flight Academy has attracted more than 55 students and established partnerships with organizations such as KLM Flight Academy, LVNL, and the Ministry of Defence.
