Get Your Pilot’s License — Your PPL at the Most Modern Flight School in the Netherlands
Obtaining a pilot licence is closer than you think. With a Private Pilot License (PPL), you take off as pilot in command in single-engine aircraft, take friends and family along, and rent an aircraft worldwide — from Teuge to Toronto. On this page, you can read exactly how to get your pilot licence: the route, the requirements, how long it takes, what it costs, and why E-Flight Academy is the right place for you. No jargon, no surprises.
What is a pilot licence (PPL)?
PPL stands for Private Pilot License: the internationally recognised licence that allows you to fly privately (non-commercially) in single-engine aircraft. For most pilots, it is the first step — and the foundation for all further training.
What can you do with a pilot licence?
- Fly as pilot in command on non-commercial flights
- Valid worldwide — rent an aircraft in the Alps, the US, Australia, or Africa
- Take friends and family with you and fly abroad yourself
- Progress to, among other things, a commercial pilot licence (CPL), instrument rating (IR), night flying, aerobatics, or flight instructor
How do you get your pilot licence? The route in brief
A PPL course consists of two parts that you do alongside each other: theory and practical training.
- Theory — nine subjects taught through modern e-learning at your own pace, with classroom support and exam preparation.
- Practical training — a minimum of 45 flight hours: flying with an instructor, solo flights, and takeoffs and landings. Includes the practical radio/telephony course.
- Exams — the theory exams and a practical exam with an authorised examiner.
- Your licence — once issued by the ILT, you are cleared for takeoff.

Can you get a pilot licence? The requirements
- Age: your first solo flight from 16 years old, practical exam from 17 years old.
- Medical certificate: you need a class 2 medical. We will help you get started.
- English: you must have English proficiency at least level 4 (the language test is part of the course).
- Height and weight: do you weigh more than 95 kg or are you taller than 1.95 m? Give us a call — with a 600 kg maximum takeoff weight, there are restrictions.
How long does it take to get your pilot licence?
Practical training includes a minimum of 45 flight hours, but how quickly you finish is mainly up to you. At E-Flight, you schedule your lessons yourself, so you can do it alongside your job (for example at weekends) or intensively in one summer. No waiting list: in principle, you can start tomorrow.
What does a pilot licence cost?
We are transparent about the costs. The complete PPL package (theory + practical) costs € 22.650. Realistically, expect a total of around € 24.500 – € 27.000 all-in, depending on how many extra lesson hours you need. On our page all questions about the cost of a PPL course you will find a full, honest breakdown — including variable costs such as the medical examination, exams, and licence issue.
