What attracted you to start working at E-Flight Academy?
I had been looking for something extra to do for a while and then I saw on Linkedin that E-Flight Academy was going to start. I immediately had the feeling that this was exactly what I was looking for. Doing what I love in a responsible way: teaching people to fly without burning gas. That was really a solution for me! So I signed up as an instructor right away and I could start immediately.
What is typical for you as a flight instructor?
My peace (it remains silent for 10 seconds...). During a flying lesson, I mainly provide pointers. The student must then mainly do it themselves and experience it themselves. I definitely emphasize procedures and rules. But on the other hand, I also let students - always in a safe way - explore the corners. Because when they are flying on their own later on, it will be those corners from which they must be able to save themselves.
How do your colleagues in commercial aviation feel about you flying electric as an instructor?
Everyone finds it very interesting and I receive a lot of positive reactions. I believe that electric flying definitely has a future commercially for short distances. However, I see little movement among airlines. Money plays an important role in this, of course. In my opinion, the government could play a much larger role in this. But for now, I will happily continue teaching electric flying. And I hope to be able to 'Cityhop' electrically in the future!
